CHOOSING THE PERFECT PARTY BANDS FOR HIRE

If you’re looking for something a bit different at your party, then why not consider a party band? There are bands for every occasion in all different shapes, sizes and styles. Believe me when I say that I’ve been to a fair few parties with live entertainment and they have been amazing! It’s unbelievable the difference live music makes to the atmosphere! You’ll honestly be amazed how many party bands for hire there are about!!!

So here are my personal preferences of Party Entertainment for every occasion! Enjoy! :)

Tea Party:

For the more sophisticated individuals, a tea party in the garden sounds positively delightful! In my opinion, a tea party should be a tranquil experience with little or no interruptions. Therefore, the perfect party entertainment would be a string quartet or a pianist. Any form of classical entertainment is the way to go! The elegance of strings adds such a pleasant mood to the event, without necessarily disturbing the conversation. And keys, how beautiful and relaxing!? You will be in heaven with music in your ears, scones and sandwiches on your plate and a teacup in your hand! Can you think of anything more divine?

Work Party:

A larger and more diverse party, with plenty of drink! I’d imagine (as I’ve never been to a big work party) that it’s a more sociable event, than a sit-down meal; I guess you could call it a function! In general, the function bands for hire, suitable for this style of event, would be professional, polished bands who are confident when performing to larger audiences. As the band performs, it’s likely that some guests won’t be watching, but listening in the background of their conversations. Therefore, party and corporate bands shouldn’t need to rely on their interactions with the audience to put on a good show. Towards the end of the evening, after a few, there may be an opportunity for a bit of a party on the dancefloor, so they would still need to look and sound the part!

Wedding:

I think the concept of a live band at your wedding is becoming increasingly popular. There’s something unique and special about having a band play your first dance song as it’s completely personalised to the bride and groom. Don’t be afraid to break tradition with your wedding music, and go for something really exciting and different! Bohemian weddings are becoming more fashionable, and a roaming, festival band fits the bill quite nicely. They are fully acoustic and free from wires, meaning they can “roam” through the audience and your guests, making them part of your wedding! It’s a much more personal band for a wedding, which is what you would want on such an intimate day! I know I would anyway!

Christening:

A slightly quieter party, usually in a smaller venue, a Christening is a lovely family affair. Celebrating the christening of a daughter, niece, grand-daughter, cousin or family friend is such a beautiful time, where everyone can be together and get a cuddle with the baby! You don’t want anything too loud and in your face when it comes to the party entertainment though. Instead, maybe consider an acoustic soloist or duo! Their performances are usually more reserved and something for the kids to dance to. However, they can still fill a room with the aid of things like loop pedals and amplified sets! Booking a small band would 100% be the way to go if you’re looking for entertainment for the christening after party!

Kids Party:

A kid’s DJ, at a youngster’s party, is going to send all the kid’s home raving about how fun it was! Having a good run around on the DJ’s dancefloor is all the kids need to release all that energy. A DJ isn’t necessarily a ‘party band’ per say! However, bands are available for kid’s parties, singing their favourite songs and playing games, involving the children in the performance. It means that for an hour or two your children are entertained and you can sit back and relax, or even join in the fun yourself! You might love the songs too. Either way, it’ll make a birthday party to remember!

16th or 21st:

Big birthdays such as a sweet 16th or the big 21 means PARTY! All the family are invited as well as all their friends from school/college/university! Teenagers and younger adults are ‘stereotypically’ into chart pop music, RnB hits and indie/alternative bands. Conveniently, almost all entertainment agencies offer these types of bands, suited to slightly younger audiences. You’d need a band with lots of energy and enthusiasm to rock the stage for your perfect party! Teenagers these days can sometimes be difficult to please, but I’m positive with a live band playing their favourite chart hits, they wouldn’t be disappointed. Far from it in fact!

40th/50th/60th:

A party with the whole family, you’d need something for everyone to dance along to! I’d imagine a swing and jazz band would go down really well! It’s probably one of the few genres of party band that everyone would love! A big jazz band, horns and all, would fill a larger venue no problem, but could be a squeeze for the smaller town hall party! However, don’t let that change your mind if you’re sold on a jazz band! You can get trios and even duos that fill the room with their talented covers of the best swing hits of the last century. Even talking about it makes me want to listen to a bit of Frank Sinatra!

Retirement:

Your retirement is meant to be a massive party! You’re done working, and now it’s time to celebrate. You could go for anything as entertainment, but my personal favourite would be a soul and funk band to get everyone up and dancing! Powerful voices to get everyone singing along, preferably in the right key! You could even go a bit more personal with a tribute act?! Sounds a bit cheesy but if you look in the right places, through a proper entertainment agency, you can find some professional acts with amazing reviews and recommendations. Go wild when booking your retirement party band, you only retire once… Hopefully!

So there you have it! If you're planning a party, no matter what the occasion, consider a party band!

Enjoy planning and I'll speak to you next time!
